Characterization of Sidr (Ziziphus spp.) Honey from Different Geographical Origins

نویسندگان

چکیده

The current investigation was conducted to assess the melissopalynological, physicochemical, and biochemical properties, antimicrobial antioxidant activities as well total phenolic flavonoid contents of 794 Sidr honey samples collected from Saudi market that had been imported 12 different countries. Testing countries showed levels growth suppression observed against five drug resistant bacterial strains. pathogenic strains were Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mutans, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli Pseudomonas aeruginosa. activity which varied according origin honey. comparative study honeys revealed a strong correlation between polyphenol significant radical scavenging in particular Egyptian Arabian honeys. melissopalynological physicochemical properties complied with recommendations WHO Codex Alimentarius, European Union standards for quality, Gulf Technical Regulation on (GSO 147:2008-Standards Store-GCC Standardization Organization). It concluded geographical areas has capacity suppress bacteria perform activities.

Evaluation of the Antioxidant Activity of Three Varieties of Honey from Different Botanical and Geographical Origins

It is well established that honey contains substantial antioxidant compounds that could protect cell components from the harmful action of free radicals. One can speculate that these compounds may strengthen the organism defenses and consequently prevent oxidative stress in humans. Therefore, over time, impaired cells can accumulate and lead to age-related diseases. A comparative study was carr...

The antibacterial hydrogen peroxide generation from Ziziphus Spina Christi and Acacia spp. honey

Honey and hydrogen peroxide are effective antibacterial agents. The antibacterial activity of honey is mainly attributed to hydrogen peroxide generation that is produced in the honey by the activity of the glucose oxidase (GOX) enzyme. Ziziphus Spina Christi and Acacia spp. honey samples were collected for the study. Hydrogen peroxide was measured using a sensitive enzymatic/colorimetric assay....

Molecular characterization of Haemophilus ducreyi isolates from different geographical locations.

The technique of random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) was adapted and optimized to study Haemophilus ducreyi isolates. A panel of 43 strains isolated from chancroid patients from different countries in Africa, Europe, North America, and Asia were characterized. The strains were also studied with respect to lipooligosaccharide (LOS) migration and immunoblotting patterns and the presence of cy...

Discrimination between Mature Vinegars of Different Geographical Origins by NIRS

The feasibility of near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for discrimination between mature vinegar of different geographical origins (Taiyuan and Qingxu, China) is presented in this research. NIR spectra were collected in transmission mode in the wavelength range of 800–2500 nm. Qualitative analysis models were developed based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Discriminant Analysis (DA). Th...

Characterization of Lavandula spp. Honey Using Multivariate Techniques

Traditionally, melissopalynological and physicochemical analyses have been the most used to determine the botanical origin of honey. However, when performed individually, these analyses may provide less unambiguous results, making it difficult to discriminate between mono and multifloral honeys. In this context, with the aim of better characterizing this beehive product, a selection of 112 Lava...
